黙想 Mokusō

Mokuso is the quiet moment before and after karate training. Many people think it is only sitting with closed eyes, but Mokuso has a deeper purpose. It helps you calm your mind, control your emotions, and leave outside stress behind. During Mokuso, you focus on your breathing and prepare yourself mentally for training. In simple words, it is the bridge between your daily life and your karate practice.

In karate, a strong body without a focused mind has little value. Mokuso teaches patience, discipline, and self-control. It reminds you that karate is not only about punching and kicking. It is also about building character, respect, and inner balance. A few quiet moments of Mokuso before training often improve concentration, reaction, and the quality of your training.
