Integrity (Seigi 正義)

Seigi 正義 is commonly translated as “justice” or “righteousness.” Practicing karate with honesty and strong moral principles ensures that you stay true to the spirit of the art. In karate, Seigi means acting with justice and doing what’s right. It’s more than just following rules—it’s about being honest, fair, and true to karate’s values, both in the dojo and in daily life. Practicing with integrity means doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.

In Japanese philosophy, Seigi represents doing what is ethically correct and right. This includes acting with honesty and upholding principles, closely aligning with the concept of integrity. Seigi embodies the kind of ethical steadfastness that defines integrity, especially in the context of karate practice.
