This also can be expressed as “to learn Karate, first show your mind and heart to be honest and pure, clean and gentle and be courteous all through life while maintaining a passion to continue to learn more and more, since the art of Karate-do is unlimited”. Shoshin Shogai manifests a state of mind one achieves through a constant, evolving spiral of development which is “A beginner’s mind for one’s whole life”. One must maintain the same spirit, enthusiasm and humility that began for the beginner when he/she attended the dojo for the first time, the way of thinking that must be present throughout life.
